Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry are said to have not yet decided whether they will attend King Charles’ coronation in May. They come to a meaningful request that Charles apparently does not want to comply with.
Preparations for the coronation of King Charles, 74, are in full swing. Duchess Meghan, 41, and Prince Harry, 38, are said to have been invited to the historic event despite their break with the British royal family. But it is still unclear whether the controversial couple will actually arrive.
Will Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry attend King Charles’ coronation?
As the “Mirror” reports, citing sources close to Sussexes, Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry are still undecided whether they will attend the coronation. Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1,’s parents would have to travel from their adopted home of California. The event is scheduled to take place on May 6, 2023 in London’s Westminster Abbey in front of 2,000 people. If Harry were to appear, although he is the King’s son and fifth in line to the throne, he would have no special role in the ceremony. Apparently the break with the family is too big.
“He won’t come if…”
According to “Mirror”, neither King Charles nor Prince William, 40, have personally spoken to Harry and Meghan about their participation in the coronation. However, it is understood that Harry would like to meet his father and brother before traveling to the UK from the US. “Harry is very clear and his position is clear: he won’t come if he feels the atmosphere is going to be as toxic as it was at the jubilee or the Queen’s funeral,” a source said. “He said he wanted to reconcile with his family and that it was up to them. But nothing has changed so far.”
And that could continue to be the case in the future. Royal expert and journalist Tom Skyes does not expect Charles to take the time to sit down with his youngest offspring and have a clarifying conversation. “Charles loves Harry and wants him to be there. But he has a coronation to organize,” he writes in Daily Beast. “He just won’t have the time to organize a separate meeting with Harry.”
Are you bringing Archie and Lilibet with you?
Is Harry’s busy schedule getting in the way of attending his father’s coronation? Because even if he aroused the displeasure of the royal family with the revelations from his memoirs “Spare”, according to informants in the “Mirror”, Harry would still be “fully expected” at the coronation.
One scenario is that he could arrive alone and Meghan could stay at home in California. Because on May 6th, little Archie will also be celebrating his fourth birthday. Another source disagrees, saying, “Whatever they’re going to do, they’re most likely going to do it as a family.” Royal fans can therefore continue to be excited to see whether they can also catch a glimpse of Prince Harry, Duchess Meghan, Archie and Lili on the day of King Charles’ coronation.
