Good personal protection is known to be very important to Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan. However, during their visit to the UK, they allowed themselves to be protected by a bodyguard who has a dark past.

After their exit as senior members of the British royal family, Prince Harry, 38, and Duchess Meghan, 41, must ensure their own protection when visiting Great Britain. A regulation because of which Harry has even taken legal action. For their last trip, they had therefore given Pere Daobry, 51, the task of protecting them.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan rely on Pere Daobry for protection

Pere Daobry is a former Metropolitan Police officer and apparently also a convicted felon. As reported by the Daily Mail, he was convicted of assault in September 2016 for assaulting and choking his then-wife Sarah Jay in December 2015 after she told him she no longer loved him. The court showed mercy because Daobry called 911 himself after his crime. He got 12 months probation.

His ex-wife, who was a former police officer herself, was shocked by the lenient verdict. “I suffered at the hands of this madman for two years. I’m devastated that he’s not behind bars. He deserves it,” she declared in 2016. “For a person to do something like that is terrible – that a police officer doing something like that is outrageous. He almost killed me. All he got is a warning. What deterrent is that to other men?”

She added: “When I met him, I was a strong, confident, capable woman. I could never have imagined becoming a victim of domestic violence. I was scared, isolated and had no one to turn to. ” After her husband’s cruel act, Sarah Jay became depressed. She took her own life in 2019.

Pere Daobry, on the other hand, is said to be working for a private security company today. On their last visit to London, he was spotted driving the Sussexes’ car from their home, Frogmore Cottage, to London Euston station. It is not yet known whether the couple knows about their bodyguard’s dark past. But this revelation will certainly cause a stir, after all, Meghan has long been committed to women’s rights and fights against domestic violence.

“Given how outspoken Meghan is about women’s rights, it’s pretty amazing that a bodyguard with such a background was hired,” a source told the Daily Mail. “His wife Sarah went through a really traumatic time with him and I’m sure if Meghan and Harry knew the full story they wouldn’t be comfortable with him working as their bodyguard.”
