Prince Harry surprised the winners of the Diana Awards 2021 with a video message. His mother “would be so proud of you,” he said.
Prince Harry (36) addressed the winners of this year’s Diana Awards with a video message. At the virtual award ceremony on June 28th, he said in his recorded statement: “I am really honored to celebrate your work, your commitment to change and the important role that you have taken on as representatives of a new generation of humanity.”
Later that week he and his brother, Prince William, 39, will get together on the day “that would have been our mother’s 60th birthday,” continued Duchess Meghan’s husband, 39, “and she would be so proud To all of you that you lead an authentic life with meaning and compassion for others. “
“Our mother believed that young people have the power to change the world. She believed in your strength because she saw them day in and day out. And in the faces of young people like you, she saw boundless enthusiasm and passion,” said the Royal directly to the award winners. Regarding his wife, he explained: “Meg and I basically believe that our world is on the threshold of change, a real change for the good of all. […] There is a great need for young leaders and there is no better time to be a young leader. I believe in you. We believe in you. “
The Diana Award, which honors only young people, was created in 1999 by the British government in honor of the late Princess Diana (1961-1997) in order to continue her legacy. In 2006 it became an independent charity organization that campaigns against bullying, among other things.
Diana statue will be unveiled on July 1st
Prince Harry has been back in London since June 25th. It is Harry’s first visit to Great Britain since the funeral of his grandfather Prince Philip (1921-2021) in April. The reason for the current trip: Together with Prince William, he will unveil a statue on July 1st, with which their deceased mother will be honored.
