Cressida Bonas was the last official woman at Prince Harry’s side before the American Meghan Markle entered his life. Today, the British model doesn’t seem to have fond memories of the relationship with the Royal.

Cressida Bonas (32) has known Prince Harry (36) for about nine years. At that time, Princess Eugenie (31) introduced the British model, who came from an aristocratic banking family, to her cousin. It “clicked” and the two became a couple. The relationship lasted two years, which apparently failed in 2014 because the young woman could not imagine a life in the royal limelight, as the British historian Robert Lacey did in his book “Battle of Brothers”: William, Harry in the Inside Story of a Family in Tumult “claims. But there is apparently more to the relationship.

Prince Harry: Did he see ghosts?

Harry has developed a “neurosis” when it comes to the media. “He cursed and complained about paparazzi lurking where there were clearly none,” Cressida is said to have told friends. The model perceived the youngest son of Prince Charles (72) as “hurt and selfish,” writes Lacey.

“No matter how educated, talented, rich or cool you think you are,” she posted on Instagram in 2017, “how you treat people ultimately says it all.” A network wisdom that gained importance for the British media when it was published on Cressida’s channel. The post appeared just a day after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement and was interpreted as a swipe at the royal ex.

Royal claims: “I was in fight or flight mode”

Cressida’s alleged statements about her ex-boyfriend don’t seem foolish. The Royal himself now admitted in his new AppleTV + series “The Me You Can’t See” that he suffered from anxiety and panic attacks. He has now been in therapy for around four years, the Duke of Sussex openly told as part of the series on mental health.

The trigger for his serious condition was the early death of his mother Princess Diana († 36), who was tragically killed in a car accident in a Paris tunnel in 1997, pursued by paparazzi. Harry was always suspicious of the media and blamed the paparazzi for the death of his mother Princess Diana. “I’m not being pressured to play a game that killed my mother,” he vowed firmly in a 2019 interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby.

He told Oprah the effects of his fears: “Before I left the house, I was sweating. I was in fight or flight mode.” The inner suffering must have been unbearable. “Panic attacks, severe anxiety – 28 to 32 was a nightmare time for me,” he outlines the period of life that demanded the most from him and in which Cressida was sometimes still the woman at his side. “I freaked out every time I got in a car and every time I saw a camera.”

Despite everything, a friendship remained between Harry and Cressida

Today, Prince Harry obviously faces his demons and speaks publicly about his fears. Duchess Meghan is certainly a driving force behind his form of self-healing.

Cressida Bonas, on the other hand, remained on friendly terms with the troubled royal despite the difficult time at the side of the troubled royal and was even a guest at his wedding with Duchess Meghan in May 2018. The model is now happy with real estate investor Harry Wentworth-Stanley (32) married and works successfully as an actress.
