Prince Harry speaks openly about the darkest chapter of his life so far and also confesses the abuse of drugs and alcohol.

For years, Prince Harry (36) was considered a party prince. In the past, he repeatedly caused scandalous news with alcohol and bullying. Drug rumors also made the rounds back then. In the new documentary series “The Me You Can’t See” on Apple TV +, the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II (95) speaks openly for the first time about his serious psychological problems and his desperate attempt to get them under control with alcohol and drugs .

In an interview with talk queen Oprah Winfrey (67), Prince Harry once again explained how his mental difficulties came about over time. The death of his mother Diana in 1997, when he was 12 at the time, naturally had a massive impact on him. But he did not grow up in an environment in which something like that could be talked about. On the contrary, it was even more likely to have been suppressed. Some family members said he should just carry on as before.

But he inherited a lot from his mother and suffered from “panic attacks and severe anxiety” in his 20s, according to Harry in the series. This time was a “nightmare” for him, from which he wanted to escape. Harry confesses that he looked for a way out in alcohol and drugs: “I drank, took drugs and tried everything to numb myself.” However, at some point he realized that he wasn’t drinking for fun, but only to suppress his problems.

It was only Meghan who helped him out of his deep crisis

Only his current wife, Duchess Meghan (39), could help him out of this dilemma and this long-lasting crisis. “I knew exactly that I had to solve my problems. If I hadn’t done that, then I would have lost Meghan,” Harry describes his situation. But he really wanted to spend the rest of his life with her and that’s why he tackled his problems. He learned a lot from her and at the beginning of their relationship Meghan was shocked when she got an intimate look at the royal conditions in Great Britain.

Until there was a heated argument and Meghan put him under pressure. “I think you have to talk to someone and get help,” said Meghan, according to Harry. Only through the subsequent years of therapy did he notice what was really going on with him. As a result, the decision matured to turn his back on the kingdom, to withdraw from the inner circle of the royal family and to emigrate to the USA together with Meghan and son Archie (2).
