Didn’t he ask the Queen for permission to use the name Lilibet? Prince Harry is now threatening the BBC with a lawsuit.

Prince Harry (36) seems once again to be angry about the coverage of the British press about himself: In the new, specific case, Harry intervenes with the help of his lawyers a report from the BBC, which claims that grandmother Queen Elizabeth II (95) did not give permission to use her nickname Lilibet as his daughter’s official name. Prince Harry didn’t ask for it either. A source has confirmed this to the sheet.

Only around 90 minutes later, Prince Harry reacted to the article and had a statement published that this would not be true. He said he had spoken to his grandmother about his daughter’s name before she was born. A little later, according to numerous British media reports, the renowned Schillings law firm had threatened the BBC with a lawsuit.

Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was named after grandma and great-grandma

It says that Queen Elizabeth II was the first person he spoke to about his daughter’s name. He would never have chosen Lilibet if his grandma hadn’t fully supported it. However, it remains to be seen whether he really had explicitly asked the Queen for permission. Other British media outlets continue to adhere to the story that there was no real permission, sometimes relying on sources other than the original BBC report.

Prince Harry’s wife, Duchess Meghan, 39, gave birth to daughter Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor on Friday, June 4, 2021 in Santa Barbara, California. It was named after the nickname of her great-grandmother and the first name of her grandmother Lady Diana Spencer (1961-1997). Lilibet ranks eighth in line to the British throne after Prince Charles (72), Prince William (38), Prince George (7), Princess Charlotte (6), Prince Louis (3), Prince Harry and her brother Archie (2).
