How did King Charles really feel about his daughter-in-law, Duchess Meghan? In his memoirs, Prince Harry now claims that his father forbade him from taking Meghan to the Queen’s deathbed.

Prince Harry’s, 38, memoirs give some events of the last few years even more clarity. Provided that the events are correct as Harry describes them in “Spare”. It is above all King Charles, 74, and Prince William, 40, whom he accuses of reckless and almost aggressive behavior.

Already in the Netflix documentary, Harry and his wife Duchess Meghan, 41, described how the royals allegedly organized a meeting in Sandringham in January 2020 in such a way that Meghan could not be there. Harry now tells something similar in his book, only a few levels more violent.

Prince Harry shouldn’t bring Meghan with him

It’s about the day Queen Elizabeth, † 96, died. On this day in September 2022, high-ranking royals traveled to Balmoral Castle to stand by the dying Queen. Harry and Meghan also wanted to come, which was even announced in an official statement. But in the end only Harry flew to the family, Meghan stayed in her British home Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor site. So far it has not been entirely clear why.

It was said afterwards that Charles called his son and asked him not to take Meghan with him. He is said to not have felt it right or appropriate for Meghan to be in Balmoral at such a sad time. In addition, deathbed visits are limited to immediate family, a source told The Sun.

Was King Charles jealous?

But according to Harry, “ask” is out of the question. Rather, Charles ordered that Harry not bring his wife. “Never talk about my wife like that,” Harry is said to have replied to the king, reports “Daily Mail”.

In addition, Harry is said to express the assumption in his book that his father was worried and jealous at the time that Meghan was putting him in the shade. It was obvious that Charles Meghan couldn’t stand it.
