Conversations between Harry and the Royals were apparently broken off. The reason for this is said to be a leak “from the Sussex side”.
Exactly one week ago, Prince Harry (36) attended the funeral of his grandfather, Prince Philip (1921-2021), in Great Britain. Prince Harry was there for the first time in his home country since he and his wife, Duchess Meghan (39), caused a stir with a double TV interview in early March. After the memorial service, a personal meeting with brother Prince William (38) and father Prince Charles (72) is said to have taken place. Last Tuesday, Harry traveled back to his pregnant wife and son Archie (1) in his new adopted home, California.
Since then according to British “The Sun” no more “meaningful discussions” have taken place between the two parties. The tabloid newspaper cites a leak “from the Sussex site” as the reason for the radio silence, which has led to reports on other family matters. The palace was alarmed at the speed with which details of the private family exchange had become known.
Details of various private conversations published
On Wednesday, the US magazine “People” reported the details of a private telephone conversation between Meghan, one-year-old son Archie and the Queen (95) before Prince Philip’s funeral.
Omid Scobie, journalist and author of the biography “Finding Freedom” about the Sussex couple, had also reported shortly after Harry’s return to the USA that Meghan had spoken to the Queen twice. He also quoted sources close to Harry and said of the day of the funeral: “Saturday broke the ice for future talks, but open questions were not dealt with in detail.”
The opportunity for another face-to-face meeting is still a long way off: Harry could fly back home in the summer, because in July he and his brother are to unveil a statue in honor of their late mother Diana (1961-1997). During this period, however, the Sussex couple’s second child is also expected.
Prince William and Father Charles stick together
While the rapprochement between Harry and his family has now apparently stalled, Prince William and his father are said to show unity, especially with regard to the discussion about the future of the monarchy after Prince Philip’s death and the “end of an era”. They were “never so united in their vision,” said Royal expert Katie Nicholl according to “Daily Mail” in the current issue of the talk format “The Royal Beat”. After the headlines about Prince Andrew (61) and the “Megxit” both are “stronger and more focused than ever”.
