Prince Joachim: Does he break all bridges with that? House sold in Denmark

Prince Joachim and Princess Marie are moving from France to the United States in a few weeks. So far, it has seemed likely that the Royals will return to Denmark at some point. But now the couple has sold their house in Copenhagen.

After Queen Margrethe, 83, im September 2022 announced that the children of Prince Joachim54, from 2023 are no longer allowed to wear their prince and princess titles, there was unrest in the Danish royal family. The monarch’s second-born expressed his anger publicly several times. In March of this year, the court finally announced that Joachim and his wife Princess Marie, 47, will move from Paris to the USA with their two children, Count Henrik, 14, and Countess Athena, 11. “On September 1, 2023, His Royal Highness will Prince Joachim will take up a new position in the Ministry of Defense as a defense industry attaché at the Danish Embassy in Washington, DC,” the statement said.

The aim is for the Royal to contribute to strengthening “defence industry cooperation with the USA and Canada”. Shortly thereafter, royal experts asked themselves whether Joachim would ever live in his homeland again in the long term. Most experts thought this was likely. But the royal couple has sold their home near Copenhagen.

Are Prince Joachim and Princess Marie breaking all bridges to the royal family?

Prince Joachim and Princess Marie bought their villa on elegant Emiliekildevej in Klampenborg near Copenhagen in 2014. The house is 344 square meters and has a plot of 2,500 square meters. Now the Danish royals are said to have sold the property where Henrik and Athena grew up. According to “Billed Bladet”, the purchase price was 34.5 million crowns (about 4.6 million euros), now, nine years later, they have resold it for 44 million crowns (5.9 million euros). This is evident from the land registry.

Joachim and Marie are currently staying with their children at the Chateau de Cayx in France before starting a new life in Washington. Through their home in Denmark, the 54-year-old and his wife had a solid connection to the Scandinavian country and the opportunity to return there spontaneously. Now the question arises whether Joachim still plans to live in his home country after all the trouble. The sale of the house could at least be interpreted as an indication of a break with the royal family.
