The third son of Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip was baptized on Saturday in the church at Drottningholm Palace.

In March, Prince Carl Philip (42) and Princess Sofia of Sweden (36) became parents again. Her third son, Prince Julian, was baptized on Saturday lunchtime. Despite the small baptism ceremony and an incident caused by the corona pandemic, there was apparently a good mood, as can be seen in pictures showing, among others, Philip, Sofia, Julian and their two other sons Gabriel (3) and Alexander (5).

First church service, then private lunch

After the arrival of a few guests and family members between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., the baptismal service took place in the castle church of Drottningholm. There were also King Carl Gustaf (75), Queen Silvia (77), Princess Victoria (44) with her husband Daniel of Sweden (47) and the children Estelle (9) and Oscar (5) and Princess Madeleine (39) and her husband Christopher O’Neill (47) with their children Adrienne (3), Nicolas (6) and Leonore (7).

The godparents of Prince Julian were of course also present with Johan and Stina Andersson, Jacob Högfeldt and Frida Vesterberg, among others. They are friends of the royals. Because of the corona pandemic, there was no big reception, only a private lunch with the godparents and the family. There was also one less pleasant incident. A member of the Royal Guards apparently passed out in front of the church, as can be seen in other pictures of the baptism.
