Although Prince Louis is already three years old, he is missing an important experience that a mini-royal should have had long ago. Even his younger cousin Archie already has a head start on the third-born of Duchess Catherine and Prince William.
For Prince Louis, 3, the limelight in which he stands thanks to his royal origins has not yet been a constant companion. A development that his down-to-earth parents, Duchess Catherine, 39, and Prince William, 39, would probably like to continue for longer. But at some point every offspring of the royal family has to take on representational duties in public from a young age.
His siblings Prince George, 8, and Princess Charlotte, 6, are already old hands in this. But two-year-old Archie Mountbatten-Windsor is also a milestone ahead of little Cambridge.
Prince Louis made his first big appearance alongside Queen Elizabeth
In 2019, Louis made his debut in front of a large audience as part of Trooping the Color on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. As the youngest member of the royal family at the time, his appearance was closely watched and celebrated euphorically alongside great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth, 95, grandpa Prince Charles, 72, and the rest of the illustrious family. A premiere with a bang. But the three-year-old has not yet been able to fulfill an important mission. There is, however, a plausible explanation for this.

George, Charlotte and Archie traveled when they were babies
Unlike his siblings and cousin Archie, Louis has not yet completed a Royal Tour. The son of Duchess Meghan, 40, and Prince Harry, 37, was only five months old when his parents took him to Africa. The little American by choice even trumps George and Charlotte. The future mini-heir to the throne was nine months old when he traveled to Australia and New Zealand with his parents. His sister was sixteen months when the family went to Canada in 2016.
It seems that Louis is a little late bloomer in the royal travel circus, albeit involuntarily. The global corona pandemic has so far not allowed people to travel long distances to distant countries. The royal status does not change that. But the supposed disadvantage could also develop into a privilege: Presumably, the curious three-year-old will be able to take many impressions with him more consciously on his first Royal Tour than his siblings and Archie. Precious memories that he will probably never forget. And he’s finally one big step ahead of George, Charlotte & Co.
