Prince of Persia Remake: Ubisoft withdraws pre-orders, but says the game is still in development

The return of the prince is not for now. After repeatedly postponing the release of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, Ubisoft decided to withdraw the project from Ubisoft Pune to entrust it to Ubisoft Montreal, de facto postponing the release of the game once again. This week, some people may have noticed that the game was then pulled from some online stores, raising fears of a cancellation, but Ubisoft has clarified the situation.

Pre-orders are on hold

Contacted by PC Gamer following these rumours, Ubisoft said the withdrawal of pre-orders was voluntary, since the game won’t be released in fiscal year 2023, but it’s still well under development :

We are proud of the work done by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, and Ubisoft Montreal will benefit from their learnings as the new team continues the work to deliver an excellent remake. As a result, we are no longer targeting a release in fiscal year 2023 and the game has been removed from sales listings. If players wish to cancel their pre-order, they are invited to contact their retailer. They will be informed of the project as it develops. »

In sum, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will not be released before April 2023, as we already knew, and faced with this delay, Ubisoft wanted to put pre-orders on hold. The project is therefore not canceled, but we should not see it again for a long time.
