Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, a major Ubisoft studio recovers the direction of development

Basically, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake was to be a quick-start minor project, led by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai. Its art direction may have been disturbing and a little simplistic, but it was touted as an assumed choice by the developers when the project was announced in 2020.

But you know the story: first announced for January 21 and then March 18, 2021, it was postponed to an unknown later date to achieve quality standards that met expectations. The Indian teams unfortunately do not succeed a priori: the direction of development will in fact be entrusted to Ubisoft Montrealexperienced studio behind the main Assassin’s Creedand especially at the origin of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time in 2003.

Hello, Prince of Persia fans!

Development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will now be led by Ubisoft Montreal, the very birthplace of the epic The Sands of Time trilogy.

This decision is an important step and the team, backed by the work done by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, will now take the time to regroup across the scope of the game to bring you the best experience for this remake of a classic, when he’s ready.

We would like to thank you all for your continued support and patience throughout development. Rest assured that we will update you on the progress in a future update.

We don’t know if Ubisoft Montreal will just bring the last polish or if the project will be changed more than it could be by 2020, but still no new release period has been given at this time. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake can still be pre-ordered from €39.99 on Amazon.co.uk.
