Prince Philip: Despite retirement, he thanks the Corona helpers

Prince Philip (98) left the well-deserved royal pension almost three years ago. He had his last public appointment in summer 2017. For a very special thank you, he is now returning briefly from retirement: Prince Philip has reported on Instagram.

The 98-year-old had a statement published on the social media platform in which he thanked all helpers in the fight against the corona virus. He wanted to appreciate the "vital and urgent work" that "is being done by so many who are fighting this pandemic, including those in medical and scientific professions, at universities and in research institutions", which are all united in the fight against Covid-19 .

He speaks on behalf of everyone

"On behalf of all of us who stay safe and at home, I would also like to thank all public sector employees who ensure that the infrastructure of our lives remains intact," said the Prince Consort of Queen Elizabeth II (93). This includes, among other things, all people who are involved in the production of food and sales, who keep postal and parcel services running and who are responsible for waste disposal.

There have also been several corona cases at the British court. In early April, Prince Charles, 71, heir to the throne and son of Philip, announced that he had survived his infection well. "I recently went through the coronavirus infection process – fortunately with relatively mild symptoms. I am now on the other side of the disease, but still in a state of social distance and general isolation," he said on Instagram.
