Prince Philip has been in a London hospital for a week. Now the palace has announced the reason for the consignment.

Prince Philip (99) is in hospital because of an unspecified infection. Buckingham Palace announced on Tuesday. "He is comfortable and responsive to treatment, but it is not expected that he will be able to leave the hospital in the next few days," the statement said.

His youngest son, Prince Edward (56), has spoken to him on the phone and reports about it. "As far as I know, he's doing a lot better. He's looking forward to getting out, which is the most positive," the Royal told Sky News. His father is "just a little" frustrated. "You can just look at the clock and the walls are just as interesting," added Edward. "So let's keep our fingers crossed for him."

The 99-year-old husband of Queen Elizabeth II (94) was admitted from Windsor Castle to King Edward VII Hospital in London on February 16. It was initially said to be a "precautionary measure" because he felt uncomfortable.
