The Royal Family says goodbye to Prince Philip. The funeral service for the husband of Queen Elizabeth II takes place on Saturday.

Shortly before the funeral service for Prince Philip (1921-2021), who died on April 9 at the age of 99, the closest staff of the deceased and the commanders-in-chief of the armed forces took up positions in front of Windsor Castle. The coffin of the deceased, decorated with the standard, the officer’s cap and the officer’s sword of Prince Philip, was carried around 3:40 p.m. to a converted Land Rover, the design of which Philip himself had worked on before his death.

In a short procession within the walls of Windsor Castle, Philips’ coffin was then brought to St. George’s Chapel. The children and grandsons of the Prince Consort followed the carriage – among them at the front Prince Charles (72) next to Princess Anne (70), followed by Prince Edward (57), Prince Andrew (61), Prince William (38), Prince Harry ( 36) and Peter Philips (43), the first son of Princess Anne.

At the end of the procession, which was short due to the corona pandemic, Queen Elizabeth II (94) was in another carriage. The path was lined with numerous members of different regiments. Among other things, the spouses of the closest relatives were waiting in front of the chapel. Others, of the only 30 mourners invited because of the pandemic, were already inside at this point. Before the coffin was carried into the chapel, there was a national minute of silence at 4:00 p.m.
