In memory of Prince Philip, his granddaughter Princess Eugenie shares touching memories. From barbecue emergencies to his favorite beer.

“Dearest grandpa, we all miss you”, writes Princess Eugenie (31) on Instagram for two pictures of Prince Philip (1921-2021). Queen Elizabeth II’s husband (94) died on the morning of April 9 at the age of 99 at Windsor Castle. Since then, the 31-year-old says she has received a lot of condolences and honors from her grandfather. The Duke of Edinburgh would have been “so touched” by this, she says.

“People who remember sitting next to you at dinner or shaking hands once. Who remembered you said hello in passing, or who remembered how much they loved their DofE award means “, writes the daughter of Prince Andrew (61) and Sarah Ferguson (61) to her late grandfather.

Granddaughter remembers Prince Philips “spectacular life”

She herself also remembers special moments with the prince consort. From him she learned “how to cook, how to paint, what to read”. The 31-year-old had squeezed Prince Philip about his “spectacular life and service in the Navy” and laughed at his jokes. “I remember burning the sausages and you rushing to the rescue. I remember your hands and your laugh and your favorite beer. I remember you in your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.”

Princess Eugenie says thank you and sends all her love to Prince Philip. Above all, she wanted to thank the Duke of Edinburgh for the dedication and love he showed “to all of us and especially to Grandma”. The Royal Family will in future be at the side of the British monarch in all matters.
