Prince Philip’s funeral was planned and prepared in detail in advance. Nevertheless, there was an incident on Saturday.

The organizers of Prince Philips (1921-2021) funeral had almost a week after his death on April 9 to plan the process in detail and to make all the necessary arrangements. As the British “Daily Mail” now writes, the driver of the Land Rover converted into a hearse practiced just as long to navigate the vehicle at the correct speed from Windsor Castle to St. George’s Chapel.

Soldiers were responsible for timing and route

Several soldiers from the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) were responsible for the correct timing and route. “You get a feel for the right speed,” the newspaper quotes 29-year-old Corporal Craig French, who was a passenger in the hearse. “We know how fast we have to be. It’s become second nature.”

The Duke of Edinburgh was personally involved in the conversion of the Land Rover that was carrying the coffin for a full 18 years in consultation with the automaker. His wishes included, among other things, the military green paintwork, the open rear part of the car and fastenings for his coffin.

In addition to the trip to the chapel, the rest of the funeral was also meticulously planned. As early as eleven o’clock local time, the pallbearers, all of them specially selected military personnel, brought Prince Philips’ body from the private chapel at Windsor Castle to its inner hall. At 2:15 p.m. – almost 25 minutes before the start of the procession – military envoys were ready in the courtyard of the facility, side by side with the cavalry and infantry.

Half-naked woman caused an incident at Prince Philips’ funeral

Although the entire castle grounds and its surroundings were cordoned off and secured by armed police officers, an incident nevertheless occurred during the funeral. Also according to a report in the Daily Mail A 55-year-old woman took off her top right after the ordered minute’s silence at 3 p.m. local time in front of the gates of Windsor Castle and shouted with a bare chest: “Save the planet, save the trees.”

The police immediately arrested the screaming woman and handcuffed her. Several observers then expressed their indignation to the newspaper about the incident and described the action as “embarrassing” and “absolutely inappropriate”, among other things. A spokesman for the Thames Valley Police confirmed the incident a little later.
