Matt Smith and Tobias Menzies appear in the series “The Crown” as Prince Philip. Now they honor the deceased with appreciative words.

The death of Prince Philip, † 99, makes Royal fans around the world sad. Matt Smith, 38, and Tobias Menzies, 47, were both honored to play Queen Elizabeth, 94, husband on the popular Netflix series “The Crown”. Now the actors say goodbye to the Prince Consort, who died on Friday morning at the age of 99.

“It won’t be the same without you”

“I would like to express my condolences to Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family,” said a statement from Smith, who embodied Prince Philip in seasons one and two of “The Crown”. “Prince Philip was the man. And he knew it. 99 and out, but what a game. And what a style. Thanks for your service, old boy – it won’t be the same without you.”

In seasons three and four of “The Crown”, Menzies took on the role of the Prince Consort. The 47-year-old told Metro: “If I know anything about the Duke of Edinburgh, I’m pretty sure he doesn’t want an actor who portrayed him on television to give his opinion on his life . ” Instead he would rather quote William Shakespeare. “O good old man! How good does the constant service to the ancient world appear in you.” Menzies wishes Prince Philip peaceful rest.

Series creators of “The Crown” are “deeply saddened”

The makers of the Netflix series have already spoken out about the sad news. One is “deeply saddened” about the death of Prince Philip, it says in a statement, from which the British “Daily Mail” quotes, among others. “Our thoughts are with the royal family at this sad time.”
