Prince Philip would have celebrated his 100th birthday on June 10th. His family remembers his husband, father and “grandpa” on social media.

On the 100th birthday of Prince Philip (1921-2021), the Royals commemorate the deceased prince in various ways. Princess Eugenie (31) posted a picture of her “Grandpa” and wife Queen Elizabeth II on Instagram (95) after her own wedding to Jack Brooksbank (35) in 2018. She writes: “In grandpa’s thoughts, today would have been his 100th birthday.”

Prince Charles (72) also remembers his late father: Among other things, he shared a black and white photo of him holding his dad’s hand as a young boywhen he came back from a trip from Malta in 1951. “In memory of the Duke of Edinburgh on what would have been his 100th birthday,” he comments.

Previously, the Queen had already honored her husband with a special gesture. The evening before, she had a rose planted at Windsor Castle bearing Prince Philips’ name. There are also pictures of this, which Prince William (38) and Duchess Kate (39) had posted on their Instagram account. The “Duke of Edinburgh” rose has pink and white flowers and was planted in the East Terrace Garden at Windsor Castle. Philip is said to have played a key role in the design of the garden.

Prince Philip died of old age on April 9 at the age of 99. The Duke of Edinburgh “died peacefully at Windsor Castle on the morning of April 9,” said an official statement from the British royal family.
