In the documentary “Harry & Meghan” and in his memoirs “Spare”, Prince Harry launches an all-out attack on his family. While Prince William and his wife Catherine, as well as King Charles and Co., are silent, they seem to form a unit and subtly give the royal dropout a few digs.

Royal fans these days would probably like to play mouse to see what’s going on behind the walls of Buckingham Palace. It seems Prince Harry, 38, left a trail of devastation with both his Netflix documentary “Harry & Meghan” and his autobiography “Spare”. And yet the members of the British royal family show themselves as a unit.

The motto “Never complain, never explain” is not ignored even in times of crisis like these. Instead, King Charles, 74, and Queen Camilla, 75, Prince William, 40, and Catherine, Princess of Wales, 41, and the other members of the Royal Family leave the 38-year-old’s fierce allegations and spicy revelations uncommented. On closer inspection, however, one may discover subtle and, above all, clever reactions from the royals that could be addressed to Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, 41.

Royal Family color-coordinated at the Christmas concert

In ‘Harry & Meghan,’ the former ‘Suits’ actress claims she deliberately stuck to the camel, beige and white color palette for her wardrobe because senior royals shouldn’t wear the same color. Well, they disproved Meghan’s theory just a week after the first three episodes appeared at the traditional Christmas concert in London’s Westminster Abbey. On December 15, 2022, not only hostess Kate appeared there in a burgundy coat, daughter Princess Charlotte, 7, and sister Pippa Matthews, 39, and Zara Tindall, 41, also chose coats in the same color. Mike Tindall, 44, and Prince William wore dark red ties with their suits.

Prince William and wife Catherine don’t like hugs?

Meghan also reports on her first meeting with her brother-in-law and sister-in-law in Spe. “When Will and Kate came to visit and I first met them, they came over for dinner, I remember I was wearing ripped jeans and I was barefoot,” the 41-year-old told the documentary. “I was a hugger. I’ve always been a hugger but I didn’t realize that for a lot of Brits that’s really shocking.” She understood very quickly that “the formality that they displayed on the outside also continued on the inside”. In his memoir, Harry tells things from his point of view and recalls how his brother “backed away” when Meghan hugged him.

At the already mentioned Christmas concert, however, the members of the Royal Family were greeted warmly. Kate kissed her father-in-law Charles and his wife Camilla on each cheek before curtseying to them. Charles then lovingly hugged his grandchildren Prince George, 9, and Princess Charlotte. Then he turned to his firstborn and exchanged warm greetings in the form of kisses on the cheeks and warm words with him as well.

Always keep your distance

Prince Harry describes in his book “Spare” that the royals should always keep their distance from the people. “When you’re moving in a crowd, you always keep a discreet distance between you and them,” he explains. Distance is an important part of being royal. Of course, selfies seem absolutely unimaginable. And yet William and Catherine took a dip in the crowd when they visited the new Royal Liverpool University Hospital last week. They warmly hugged people and even posed for selfies with them. Kate was also only too happy to be photographed with some parents while attending a nursery in Luton on Wednesday 18 January.

From the outside, the encounters and meetings of the British royal family do not look like frosty distance – but they do look like a quiet dig at Harry and Meghan.
