Princess Mette-Marit’s son Prince Sverre Magnus looks completely different in the new summer holiday photos of the Norwegian Crown Prince family. What’s behind it?
Like every summer, Prince Haakon, 49, Princess Mette-Marit, 49, and their children also publish new family photos in 2023. Only one thing is different this time: Prince Sverre Magnus, 17, the youngest child of the crown prince couple, looks completely different.
Princess Mette-Marit: Her son Prince Sverre Magnus has changed
“Sverre Magnus has become a big boy,” some users think when they see the new family photos that the Norwegian royal family published on their official Instagram account on Tuesday afternoon, July 11, 2023. But it’s not just the size that catches the eye. Already on Norway’s national day in May 2022, the now 17-year-old surprised everyone with his height. In pictures he towered over his sister Princess Ingrid Alexandra, 19, and mother Mette-Marit drew level with his father Haakon.
But on the new family photos, which were taken during their journey with the royal ship “Norge” on the idyllic riverbank of the Neidenelva in the north of the country, it is striking: Prince Sverre-Magnus no longer wears his glasses. In addition, his face looks more prominent. The casual shirt and jeans outfit underlines his grown-up charisma. Mette-Marit’s son is slowly but surely leaving his teenage years behind.

The last year of high school is waiting for Haakon’s and Mette-Marit’s little ones
“While Princess Ingrid Alexandra prepares to take up a position as a school assistant and environmental worker in the autumn and later to do her military service, Prince Sverre Magnus is preparing to start his final year in high school,” writes the crown prince family on Instagram.
The Royals also wished “a nice summer” and reported: “The Royal Yacht Norway is currently sailing along the coast of our northernmost province. The Crown Prince family disembarked via the Neidenelva River, which flows through the Sami Skolt village of Neiden in the municipality Sør-Varanger is progressing. Later this summer, both Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit will be 50 years old.” Another opportunity for Prince Sverre Magnus to show off his new self.
