Prince William demonstrates his foreign language skills in a video message to the Irish people on St. Patrick's Day.

Prince William, 38, and Duchess Kate, 39, recorded a video message for the Irish people on the occasion of St. Patrick's Day. Prince William also demonstrates his language skills and greets the audience with the Irish words: "Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig oraibh" ("Happy St. Patrick's Day!"). Then Duchess Kate takes over the floor: "We look forward to wishing you a happy St Patrick's Day". Whereupon her husband jokingly asks: "Why do you get the easy part?"

Then the couple, traditionally dressed in green, recalls their trip across the country: "We were so excited to visit Ireland a year ago, just weeks before our lives were turned upside down by the Pandemic, "said William. Kate remembers the "warm welcome" they received across the country. Finally, William wishes everyone a safe festivity – even if the celebrations this year certainly wouldn't go as they normally do on this day.

The video was published by the Irish government on Twitter and is titled "St Patrick's Day Messages From Our Friends Around The World". US President Joe Biden (78), Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (49) and the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern (40), also have their say in the video. Every year on March 17th, the Irish celebrate their national saint and patron saint St. Patrick.
