The Royal Family said goodbye to Prince Philip on Saturday. His grandchildren William and Harry didn’t get very close at first.

Queen Elizabeth (94) and her family said goodbye to Prince Philip (1921-2021) at Windsor Castle on Saturday (April 17th). His grandsons Prince William (38) and Prince Harry (36) were also present at the funeral service. At least at the beginning, however, the brothers did not get particularly close.

In the chapel they sat across from each other

During the procession leading up to a service in the St. George’s Chapel, the sons of Prince Charles (72) and Princess Diana (1961-1997) ran after their grandfather’s coffin as members of the funeral procession. Not right next to each other, however. Between them ran her cousin Peter Phillips (43), the first son of Princess Anne (70) and Mark Phillips (72).

Inside the chapel, the two grandchildren of the late Duke of Edinburgh then sat facing each other. Due to the corona pandemic, members of the mourning community were only allowed to sit together with members of their own household. Duchess Kate (39) sat next to Prince Williams, Duchess Camilla (73) sat next to Prince Charles. The queen had to sit alone.

Just like Prince Harry. His wife, Duchess Meghan (39, “Suits”), was unable to attend Prince Philip’s funeral due to her pregnancy. Doctors had advised the former actress against a trip from the USA to Great Britain. However, according to media reports, she followed the procession and the service via live stream from her home in Montecito, California.

Short conversation after the service

Prince Harry had already traveled to his old homeland a few days after the death of his grandfather to be able to attend the funeral. After his arrival, he had first gone into self-isolation at Frogmore Cottage.

It was the first time after Harry and Meghan’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey (67) that the 36-year-old and his brother Prince William met in public. After the funeral service was over, they got a little closer – and exchanged a few words.
