Prince William and Prince Harry: The break really is that bad

Is the alleged rift between Prince William and his brother Harry one of the worst crises in the British royal family?

The alleged rift between Prince William (38) and Prince Harry (36) is "worse than anyone thinks": This is what Royal expert Robert Lacey (76), who works as a consultant for the series "The Crown", claims in his new one Book. The work, which appears in mid-October, is entitled "Battle Of Brothers" and is also supposed to describe how "terrible" the Windsors were with Harry's wife Meghan (39). The author claims to have spoken to "countless" insiders and believes that the problems between the brothers could end up in a row with the biggest scandals of the royals.

Prince Harry has lived in California with his wife and young son Archie (1) since the spring. The couple no longer works for the British royal family. Afterwards, there was supposedly radio silence between Harry and his brother. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Robert Lacey said that Harry and William's relationship was "critical" to the royals' future.

Can the fracture be healed?

The expert stated: "If this rupture between the brothers is not healed in some way, it will go down in history with the abdication crisis and the death of Diana as one of the traumas that changed the monarchy." Lacey believes Harry and William's problems can be solved, but he doesn't think the palace is "working in that direction."

The author also has a clear opinion on how the royals deal with Meghan, as he told the Daily Mail. He therefore thinks that the former US actress, who married Harry in 2018, is "difficult" and has an "incredible and dangerous level of self-confidence" – she should have been treated better by the royals.

"There is only one self-made millionaire in the royal family and that is Meghan Markle," said Lacey. "If they had sat down with her at the beginning and said, 'Let's talk about the things you're interested in,' things might have turned out differently." The expert apparently rules out that she would ever have fitted into the royal routine. He sees parallels between Meghan and Harry's mother Diana (1961-1997), whom he describes as "anti-royal".
