Prince Williams’ classmate remembers their college days together. She reveals how William fell in love with Kate in front of his fellow students and which sweet details she will never forget from this time.
Prince William, 38, and Duchess Catherine, 39, recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary and are happier in their marriage today than ever. Apparently, when they got to know each other, it also struck the fellow students that the connection between these two was going to be something very special.
Prince William and Duchess Catherine: “The chemistry was definitely there from the start”
The royal couple met in 2001 as freshmen at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. “The chemistry was there from the start,” says Williams’ fellow student Laura Warshauer, who lived in the same dormitory as the couple, in an interview with People Magazine. “Whenever Kate walked into the room, Will’s full attention was on her,” continues Warshauer. “When we sat in the dining room at lunch and the two of them talked, it was amazing to see how natural they looked together and how much they had to say to each other. Looking back, there were all these little moments when I thought, ‘Wow, that could really be something. ‘ “
Kate: “When I first met him, I blushed and ran away”
And it actually turned out to be something! In their sophomore year, they moved in together, shared a four-bedroom apartment with two other friends, and often went to class together. The couple first spoke publicly about the college romance in their engagement interview in 2010: “I actually think I went bright red when I met you and kind of ran away. I was very shy,” Kate said of her first meeting with William “It took some time to get closer, but we became very close friends very early on.” William added, “We moved in as friends. We lived with a few others too, and it kind of grew slowly.”
This natural ease, which Kate and William apparently already had when dealing with each other, is what the two of them carry with them to this day. When you see how familiar the two are with each other at the moment, it becomes clear: They seem happier than ever!
