Prince William: He asks singer Shakira about her skateboard hobby

Prince William has brought Shakira to the committee for his environmental award. In a video he surprises her with a special question.

Prince William (38) and singer Shakira (43, "Whenever, Wherever") exchanged a video chat about their joint work for the "Earthshot Prize", which the British Royal launched. Shakira is a member of the award committee. "Your children, my children, have to find a way to reduce greenhouse gases, save the oceans and improve the air. That is why education and awareness-raising are so important," explains the singer in the conversation she published on Instagram. She therefore wants to attract attention before it is too late. Speaking of learning new things …

At the end of the conversation, Prince Williams surprised the musician with a question: "A member of my team showed me a skateboard video of you. Is that a hobby of yours?" Shakira looks at the camera in disbelief and breaks out in embarrassed laughter: "I can't believe you saw that." She was always jealous of the skateboarders driving around and actually wanted to get her two sons Milan (7) and Sasha (5) excited about the sport. "But they didn't have much fun with it – unlike me. I can't get off the board, I love it." And the singer has already discovered a new passion: "I'm currently devoting myself to surfing."

This is behind the "Earthshot Prize"

The "Earthshot Prize" should be awarded five times a year, so that by 2030 at least 50 solutions to the world's biggest environmental problems such as air and garbage pollution will have been found, explains Prince William in an official YouTube video. In the clip you can see the other committee members such as Rania from Jordan (50) or actress Cate Blanchett (51). Proposals can be submitted from November 1st. The first award ceremony is to take place in London in 2021.
