Prince William spoke about climate protection – in a podcast by Cate Blanchett. In it, he also chatted about Prince Charles.

Prince William (39) spoke about climate change with none other than Hollywood star Cate Blanchett (52). Queen Elizabeth II’s grandson (95) was a guest on the new Audible podcast series “Climate of Change”. With Cate Blanchett and co-host Danny Kennedy (51) he came according to “People” magazine in a solar-powered recording studio in London to talk about the importance of protecting the environment.

The Royal therefore explained that his connection to nature began “quite early”, inspired by the documentation of the British naturalist David Attenborough (95). But Prince William’s grandfather, Prince Philip (1921-2021), and his father Prince Charles (73) also had a great influence on him, according to the 39-year-old.

“Climbed trees for hours”

According to “People”, William explained that his grandfather and father had been working in this field for a very long time with deep dedication and great interest. This aroused his interest and curiosity in nature. “Growing up I was surrounded by this adventure and this idea of exploring the garden and being outside. I would spend hours climbing trees, digging ditches and things like that, hiding in caves and all sorts of things in the garden . I loved being out in the wild and in the wet.”

Prince William also recalled his time in Kenya after graduating from high school. There he learned a lot from experts about wildlife and environmental protection. Cate Blanchett also asked William about his Earthshot Prize, which he created in 2020. With this, the Royal wants to promote effective approaches to the most urgent environmental problems in the world. Last October, five projects were awarded the equivalent of around 1.2 million euros each. William said he was a “stubborn optimist” and “hopeful” that the climate crisis could be overcome.
