The death of the monarch surprised her firstborn in particular. The confession was made by King Charles, 73, to one of the many fans who gathered outside Clarence House over the weekend to offer their condolences to the new monarch.
“These things happen and you don’t expect them. I didn’t expect them,” the grieving king is said to have said to Rabena Din from Manchester, according to “The Sun”. She herself was surprised that Charles was so open to her. “I told him I was sorry for his loss and asked him to accept my condolences,” she said. “He said, ‘That’s very kind of you’.” He then looked at her and said that although he knew these things would happen, he didn’t expect it.
