There will probably be no new pictures on Princess Charlotte’s birthday. The reason: William and Kate are currently boycotting social media.

Prince William (38) and Duchess Kate (39) boycott social media over the weekend. With this, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge join an action that fights against racism and abuse on the Internet in connection with sports. William and Kate want to use their break from Twitter, Instagram and Facebook to support football clubs, players and other sports associations.

On Instagram it says on the official account the Cambridges in their last post for the time being: “This weekend we’re joining the UK football community in their social media boycott from Friday April 30th 3pm to Monday May 3rd 11:59 pm when Responding to the ongoing abuse that players and many other members of the football community face online. ” Prince William is the President of the English Football Association FA. According to British media reports, the aim of the protest is to get the big tech companies to crack down on racist and sexist abuse by users of the platforms.

No new pictures of Charlotte

Due to the social media boycott, fans of the royals will probably have to do without new photos of Princess Charlotte for the time being. William and Kate’s daughter will celebrate her sixth birthday on Sunday. Usually the Cambridges publish new pictures of Charlotte, Prince George (7) and Prince Louis (3) for their children’s birthdays.
