Prince William
He meets with Bill Gates
Prince William and Bill Gates met in London to advance a major common cause.
Prince William, 42, also met Bill Gates, 68, as part of the “London Climate Action Week”, an event on climate protection. According to media reports, the Prince of Wales was a speaker at the “Breakthrough Energy Summit”, an event where leading figures from politics, science and business come together to jointly develop innovative solutions for climate protection.
Prince William is committed to the fight against climate change, among other things with his Earthshot Prize. The British heir to the throne met with Microsoft co-founder Gates in London to visit an exhibition that presented environmental protection innovations from around the world.
“For me it’s all about celebrating”
Speaking at the event in London, William reportedly said: “I thank Bill Gates and Breakthrough Energy for bringing together this brilliant group of investors, philanthropists and environmental innovators and for inviting me to join you today. For me, this week is all about celebrating.”
The British heir to the throne continued: “We celebrate the incredible minds working day and night around the world to find solutions to the problem of climate change, we celebrate the people and organizations that support them, and we celebrate the progress we have already made.” He also spoke of his hope that we “take the right steps to repair our planet.”
The Earthshot Prize will be awarded in Cape Town
The Earthshot Prize, launched by William in 2020, aims to support potential solutions to environmental problems. Each year, five projects are recognised at an awards ceremony, each with a prize of one million pounds. The prize will be awarded this year in November in Cape Town, South Africa.
