An absence that did not go unnoticed… Every year on the occasion of Christmas, members of the British royal family go to the church of Sandringham. If she is one of the most active people in the family and has already made 214 engagements this year, Princess Anne was absent. As reported by The Mirror, the sister of Charles III did not join her children Zara Tindall, Peter Phillips and the rest of the family for the annual festive service due to a cold. After a busy year, notably marked by the death of his mother, Elizabeth II, she fell ill and would take the time to rest.
Due to her schedule, Princess Anne was previously unable to attend Kate Middleton’s singing service at Westminster Abbey. During this, the Duchess of Cambridge paid tribute to Elizabeth II, who died at the age of 96. In a video posted on Instagram, she said: “This Christmas will be our first without Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. Her Majesty loved Christmas. She saw Christmas as a time that brings people together, and reminds us of the importance of faith, friendship and family, to show empathy and compassion.“Moved, Prince William’s wife added:”Her Majesty leaves behind an incredible legacy, which inspires us deeply. The heartbreaking words of Charles III for his first Christmas speech
For his first Christmas speech, Charles III paid a vibrant tribute to Elizabeth II. In a video broadcast on the Australian channel Sky News on Sunday December 25, 2022, he said: “I stand in St George’s Chapel within Windsor Castle, where my beloved mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II rests, with my father.” Moved, he wanted to thank the British people for the “many very touching letters and messages“which he has received since September.
