After wild speculation about Princess Anne’s intentions to wear a conspicuous hat at the coronation of her brother King Charles and thus probably upset Prince Harry, she is now speaking out about this incident herself – and setting the record straight.

As the world looked forward to the coronation last May As King Charles, 75, stalked Westminster Abbey, an unexpected detail caused a stir: Princess Anne’s, 73, eye-catching hat. With the publication of Robert Hardman’s, 59, new book “Charles III: New King. New Court.” Princess Anne speaks out about this incident herself and denies the allegations, as “Hello Magazine” reports.

Princess Anne: Was her hat an affront to Harry?

The hat attracted almost as much attention on social media as the ceremony itself. The tall hat, decorated with red feathers, appeared to obscure Prince Harry, 39, from view during the service. The resulting memes and speculation on social media were inevitable. Some suspected Princess Anne deliberately put the hat on and even changed her seat at the last minute to block Harry’s view and ensure a “quick exit.”

“This is nonsense!”

However, Princess Anne is now defending herself against these accusations. “This is nonsense. Not only does the Lord Chamberlain’s Office not think so, but the Princess Royal only moved to this place after she asked for a quick exit,” says Hardman’s book. And the Princess herself is also quoted: “The hat was an interesting question. I said, ‘Are you sure I should keep the hat on? It’s quite a big hat.’ And the answer was yes. That was it. Not my decision.”

Lip reader reports what it really was like

A heartwarming scene captured by the cameras also shows a sweet exchange between Princess Anne and Prince Harry. A lip reading expert told Hello magazine that the Duke of Sussex told his aunt, “I don’t mind,” possibly in response to Anne’s comment about his sitting position. He then allegedly said: “Sit forward.”

The book by Robert Hardman published by the Daily Mail also reveals that Princess Anne was the one who greeted Prince Harry at Balmoral when he paid his last respects to his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, †96. In his memoir Spare, published last year, Harry confirmed that he and his aunt hugged when he arrived.
