The Thai royal family fears for Princess Bajrakitiyabha. The Royal has apparently suffered a heart attack and is fighting for her life.

It is disturbing news coming from the Thai royal family: Princess Bajrakitiyabha, 44, is said to have collapsed while jogging with her dog and suffered a heart attack. Scottish journalist and Thailand expert Andrew MacGregor Marshall, 51, tweeted shortly after the incident on Wednesday, December 14, 2022: “Some sources say that despite CPR, which lasted more than an hour performed, there was no response, and she was put on a ventilator, which basically means she’s dead but being kept alive artificially.”

Princess Bajrakitiyabha: Palace speaks of unconsciousness

One day later reported Marshall: “Thailand’s Princess Bajrakitiyabha has been pronounced dead by doctors, palace sources say. No official announcement has yet been made by either the monarchy or the regime.” But only a short time later, a statement from the palace appears: The Royal has lost consciousness. Her alleged death has not been officially confirmed.

Forecasts bleak?

According to Marshall, however, royal sources have told him on the quiet that “the prognosis for the princess is very bleak and it is very unlikely that she will ever recover.” The royal family does not want to give up hope, as Marshall has learned: “They could be kept alive artificially on oxygen equipment for weeks or even months while the regime figures out what to do.”

Succession to the Thai throne

The King of Thailand, Maha Vajiralongkorn, 70, got into a helicopter immediately after the shocking news and flew to his daughter. Bajrakitiyabha works as a prosecutor and is his great hope when it comes to his successor. She is only second in line to the throne. However, the current heir to the throne and the monarch’s only son, Dipangkorn Rasmijoti, 17, is said to suffer from autism, according to media reports, and is therefore apparently not eligible for the role of future sovereign. So if Bajrakitiyabha did not survive her heart attack, Princess Sirivannavari, 35, who is a successful fashion designer, would take over the reigns at court after her father’s death.
