Beatrice and Eugenie said goodbye to the Queen on Instagram. On Saturday they held a wake with the other grandchildren.

Princess Beatrice, 34, and sister Princess Eugenie, 32, shared a message to their late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), at Instagram released. Captioning a childhood photo of the pair smiling into a camera with the Queen, they captioned: “Our dearest granny, we have not been able to put much into words since you all left us.”

The past time has been full of “tears and laughter, silence and conversations, hugs and loneliness”. “And there was a collective feeling of the loss of our beloved Queen and beloved Grandma. We thought, like many others, that you would be here forever. And we all miss you terribly,” the two continue. The Queen was her matriarch, her guide and a loving hand on her back, “guiding us through this world. You taught us so much and we will forever cherish those lessons and memories.”

The two sisters also thanked their grandmother “for making us laugh, for tying us in, for picking heather and raspberries with us”. The two are very happy “that you are back with grandpa. Goodbye, dear grandma, it was an honor for us to have been your granddaughters and we are so proud of you.” At the end they also find words for King Charles III. (73): “We know that our dear Uncle Charles, the King, will continue to follow your example as he too dedicated his life to service. God bless the King.”

Wake with all grandchildren

On Saturday night, the sisters, along with the other six grandchildren, held a 15-minute vigil over the Queen’s coffin, which remained in state at Westminster Hall until Monday morning. Prince William (40) and his younger brother Prince Harry (38) both wore uniforms, with the exception of the latter. Originally it was said that the prince would not wear his uniform at all official events. According to the newspaper “Mirror” Palace officials then changed their minds shortly before. At the Queen’s funeral on Monday, however, Harry is expected to attend in a suit again.

Also present at the wake, during which the otherwise black-clad grandchildren stood with their backs to the coffin and were silent for minutes, were Peter Phillips (44) and Zara Tindall (41) as well as the youngest grandchildren, Lady Louise (18) and Viscount Severn ( 14) present.
