Princess Catharina-Amalia, the future Queen of the Netherlands, will begin a demanding course of study this year.
Princess Catharina-Amalia of Orange (18), Crown Princess of the Netherlands, passed her high school diploma with distinction. After a year break, during which the eldest daughter of King Willem-Alexander (55) and Queen Máxima (51) traveled a lot and completed various internships, the future Queen of the Netherlands’ future career plan is now clear. As the royal family announced via InstagramPrincess Amalia will start a demanding course of study in Amsterdam from September this year.
She therefore decided to do a bachelor’s degree in politics, psychology, law and economics. It seems important to the Dutch royal family that the princess did not enjoy any royal bonus when she was admitted: “The study has an application and selection process that the Princess of Orange went through completely last year,” says the Instagram Post. You want to keep your exact study time private.
She wants to stand on her own two feet
Princess Amalia turned 18 on December 7, 2021. Since the abdication of her grandmother Beatrix (84) around ten years ago, she has been the first in line to the Dutch throne. She caused a stir last year with the announcement, until further notice, to forego around 1.6 million euros per year, which she would be legally entitled to from the age of majority. She communicated this decision in a letter to Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
