When Prince George starts school in the fall, his little sister’s life will be turned upside down. Royal experts describe how Princess Charlotte is coping with the upcoming separation from her big brother.

Prince George, 7, is reportedly due to switch schools and move to boarding school in Berkshire this fall. George turns 8 on July 22, the same age his father, Prince William, 39, was when he went to boarding school and attended Ludgrove School in Berkshire. Royal experts are now weighing how his little sister, Princess Charlotte, 6, is coping with this change.

Princess Charlotte: Big change when Prince George goes to boarding school

Princess Charlotte, who is currently attending the same school with George, will of course miss her brother. But experts are certain that she already has a more independent personality who will ultimately cope well with the separation from her brother and changes in her daily life. Moving out of his parents’ house and the associated separation from his siblings Charlotte and Prince Louis, 3, is of course a big change for George, but his sister Charlotte is certainly the most affected.

Both George and Charlotte are currently attending Thomas’s Battersea School in London, which accepts students up to the age of 13. Charlotte is likely to continue to stay in the same school as the William and Duchess Catherine, 39, are expected to keep London as their primary residence. According to reports, William and Kate are currently looking at properties in the Berkshire area so they would not live far from their son. George could be given a flexible boarding plan so he could spend as much time with his family as possible.

The bigger change is coming up to Prince George

“Princess Charlotte will of course miss her big brother, as any child would,” said Gertrude Daly, author of Gerts Royals blog, in an interview with the Daily Star. “But she’ll be fine with Prince George going to boarding school. She seems like a very independent kid.” Daly adds that George will face a much greater adjustment when he starts boarding school and that his new classmates will have to get used to having an heir to the throne as a classmate. “Being with new students who didn’t grow up with a prince as a classmate and who are used to seeing Prince George and his family on the news is quite an adjustment.”
