Princess Diana: She revealed the truth in a letter on the day of the divorce

On August 28, 1996, the divorce of Princess Diana and Prince Charles becomes final. In the evening, the princess’s butler finds a letter from his boss in which she reveals her feelings about her ex-husband.

Paul Burrell was in the service of Princess Diana for 20 years – from 1987 to 1997. The two had more than one business relationship in common: They were close confidants. The princess repeatedly gave Burrell deep insights into her soul, showed him strictly confidential letters and wrote down her thoughts for him. Also on the day of the divorce from Prince Charles, the two had a detailed conversation. Then the butler found an A4 note addressed to him in the dressing room. What the princess wrote on it, Paul Burrell reveals word for word in his book “In the service of my queen”.

This is how Princess Diana felt about Prince Charles in August 1996

“It’s August 28, 1996 – today the end of a fifteen-year marriage was sealed. I didn’t want this divorce and I always dreamed of a happy marriage with loving care from Charles. Even if it wasn’t supposed to be, we have two wonderful ones Boys dearly loved by their parents, part of me will always love Charles, but how much I would have liked him to look after me and be proud of my work.

It has been fifteen years that Charles’ friends and relatives made me feel their envy, jealousy, and hatred – they misunderstood me profoundly, and it was a painful experience that deeply touched my heart.

I wish so much to be Charles’ best friend, I understand better than anyone what he wants and what goes on inside him. ”

Even after all the disappointment, after all the pain and despite other partners, the princess had not forgotten her great love.

Death divided Diana and Charles forever

The princess could no longer implement the plan to turn love into friendship. Almost exactly a year to the day after the divorce and the letter, she died in Paris.
