August 31st marks the anniversary of the death of Princess Diana (1961-1997). The ex-wife of King Charles III (75) and mother of Prince William (42) and Prince Harry (39) died on August 31st, 1997 after a car accident. Her former hairstylist now remembers the humorous side of the princess who died so tragically.
Princess Diana was “a wonderful, sincere person”
Richard Dalton, who according to a report by the US magazine “People” until 1991, has published the book “It’s All About the Hair-My Decade with Diana” in collaboration with Renae Plant. “After seeing her every day for over a decade, it was fun to relive the memories,” Dalton told the magazine. One of his goals was to show “how funny” and “what a wonderful, genuine person” Diana was. “I find the humorous side of Diana very sweet,” explains Dalton. “She just wanted to be ‘normal’ and was just like the rest of us.”
In the book itself, Dalton writes about the “amazing, mischievous sense of humor” that Lady Di had. “Her jokes were hilarious,” reports the hairstylist. She was constantly telling jokes and playing pranks on others. And her humor could be “very naughty at times.” “She was hilarious and loved to prank us all.”
The Princess and the Corgi
As an example, Dalton cites a story about one of the corgis of the also deceased Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), who followed him into a dressing room. He was petting the dog as Diana approached him. The corgi began to lick Diana’s legs and she asked, “Whose dog is that?” He replied, “That’s your mother-in-law’s new corgi.” Laughing, she replied, “Well, get rid of him, because he’s licking all the fake tan off my legs.”
