Criticism of her appearance still bothers her

All members of the British royal family are watched every step of the way. But while Princess Kate, for example, is usually celebrated for her look, it hailed for her Princess Eugenie a lot of malice and ridicule.

The British tabloid press is notoriously not very squeamish. And so the princess sisters Eugenie (33) and Beatrice (35) have had to endure many a malicious headline about themselves. For example, there was her appearance at the wedding of Prince William (41) and his Kate (41) twelve years ago. The outfits and especially the eye-catching hats of the two daughters of Prince Andrew (63) and Sarah Ferguson (64) were not well received by royal observers. The nasty comments did not leave Eugenie unscathed, as she revealed in a podcast.

The comments influenced her

In the Podcast “Table Manners” She spoke to the mother-daughter duo Jessie and Lennie Ware not only about table manners at court, but also about the constant criticism of their appearance. She repeatedly heard statements like “That wasn’t a nice outfit” or “She looked terrible there.” Because of these constant evaluations, she became fixated on “looking a certain way.” The criticism of her appearance “definitely caused some problems” for her.

The niece of King Charles III continued. (75): “I think everyone has that when you’re in public.” The problem in the royal family, however, is that you become the focus of attention as a teenager: “I guess in our family it happens at the perfect age, when you’re 13 years old, have this idiotic haircut and are a bit chubby and all the boys bully you. All you want at this time is to know you’re on the right path, and you get the opposite.”

She enjoys her second home in Portugal even more, where she is not so much in the public eye. Living there was a “dream,” enthused the mother of two. Probably also because she finally doesn’t have to worry about her look when she’s away from home: “I can go to the supermarket in my jogging suit and with my hair piled on top of my head and it doesn’t bother me. It doesn’t matter. Nobody cares.”

She wants to show what she really is

A month ago, the princess commented on her appearance and the constant evaluation in a podcast. In “White Wine Question Time” She explained to host Kate Thornton why she’s been active on Instagram since 2018: “I want people to know me because I think there’s so much misinformation and it’s so easy to judge something when you see it in the Reading a newspaper or seeing a picture, like a terribly ugly photo of us coming out of a bar.” Unfortunately, there are a lot of not so nice photos of her. “Sometimes people come up to me and say, ‘Oh, you look much better in real life’.” However, she doesn’t know whether that is a compliment. In any case, she wants to show people that she has “a sense of humor.”

In the current “Table Manners” talk, she also talked about the pressure to lose weight quickly after giving birth. “Society dictates that you have to shed the weight of your baby.” That makes her “crazy.” Princess Eugenie has already had two births. With her husband Jack Brooksbank (37) she has two sons August (2) and Ernest, who was born at the end of May. The couple has been married since 2018.
