A sad veil falls over the joyful baptism news from Princess Eugenie’s son. It is now known that her father-in-law, George Brooksbank, died just three days earlier.
Princess Eugenie, 31, and Jack Brooksbank, 38, are in deep grief. The Queen’s granddaughter’s father-in-law, George Brooksbank, died at the age of 72 – just three days before the baptism of his grandchild in August, 9 months, on November 21, 2021. This was initially reported by the Daily Mail, citing a palace insider . Now the family of the deceased confirms the sad news.

The family officially announced the death of George Brooksbank in an advertisement in the British newspaper “Daily Telegraph”. “Brooksbank, George. Died November 18th. He loved all the finer things in life, but especially his wife, friends, sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren. Private cremation with family members, details of the funeral service to be announced” , it says in the short but emotional statement from the family.
The reference to his grandchildren is particularly touching. Unfortunately, he was no longer able to attend the grand christening ceremony of grandson August in the All Saints Chapel in Windsor Park – which Queen Elizabeth, 95, attended. The retired auditor and company manager died on November 18.

Jack Brooksbank’s father was in intensive care with Corona in 2020
Only last year George Brooksbank had to go to intensive care because of corona disease. At that time, his condition was “serious but stable,” as the Daily Mail reported. His wife, Nicola Brooksbank, 67, also contracted the virus, luckily much less so. Friends of the couple said it was a traumatic time for Jack and Eugenie.
