First love often leaves behind a pain that remains unforgotten. Europe’s teen royals are not immune to this either. Who is currently on cloud nine and who has arrived on the ground of sad facts: an overview.
Just a few days ago, Juliane Snekkestad, ex-girlfriend of Princess Mette-Marits, 49, son Marius Borg Høiby, 25, made headlines: she took advantage of her former relationship and, according to “Dagbladet”, revealed secret royal details for the Netflix film “Royalteen: The Heir”. In March 2022, after more than four years, Snekkestad confirmed the separation from Høiby via SMS to “Nettavisen” and wrote that she felt “a lot better now”. Did all of this give Marius a stab in his heart? Quite possible.
With his half-sister, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, 18, and her colleague Princess Amalia, 18, it should look rosier in the love sky. And who lost his heart completely? We’ll tell you later.
Princess Ingrid Alexandra: Is he her number 1?
On June 17, Magnus Heien Haugstad, 22, appeared in elegant tails at Ingrid Alexandra’s big gala dinner on the occasion of her 18th birthday at Oslo Palace. Norwegian media such as “Se og Hør” have been rumored for weeks that the blonde student is said to be in a relationship with Prince Haakon’s 49-year-old daughter.

The words of court information chief Guri Varpe on said headlines about the love life of the princess make you sit up and take notice. “We do not comment on the privacy of the royal family,” she explained. A denial sounds different.
Does Princess Amalia also have hearts in her eyes?
Princess Amalia even spoke of an allegedly secret engagement. For this flimsy rumor, the government information office (RVD) only had the following clear words to “Shownieuws”: “If there really is an engagement, we will announce it.”
Nevertheless, the heir to the Dutch throne has persistent love speculations about an alleged German boyfriend. However, when asked about this, Amalia deliberately kept a low profile and said in June 2022: “I promise you, if someone is serious, you will be the first to know.” She will probably only introduce her loved one to the public when there really is an engagement to celebrate.

Love frustration and early engagement with Denmark’s royal offspring?
The grandchildren of Queen Margrethe of Denmark, 82, can only smile about this secrecy. Presumably because they don’t have a lot of responsibility as heir to the throne, they say what’s up. On Instagram and the red carpets of Sweden, Prince Nikolai, 22, cuddles with his longtime girlfriend Benedikte Thoustrup. The couple met and fell in love while they were at boarding school in Herlufsholm.
In 2021 they tormented their way through Paris during their semester abroad and graduated from Copenhagen Business School this year. Nikolai’s girlfriend is also a successful young entrepreneur, sells sustainable accessories with her business “Béné Soie” and models on the side – like the prince.

His parents also got to know Benedikte. Mother Alexandra from Frederiksborg, 58, even gets enthusiastic about her. Looks like Denmark’s royal offspring could be celebrating their first engagement soon.
Nikolai’s brother Prince Felix, 20, is not quite as lucky in love. After a year, he announced his split from Karen Bak to Billed Bladet in June. They met through friends and spent part of their summer at the French family estate, Château de Cayx. Now the royal will start his new student life at the Copenhagen Business School as a single in autumn.

Countess Eloise is “very much in love”
Even Princess Amalia’s cousin Countess Eloise, 20, does not mince words – at least almost. In November 2021, she revealed in an interview with the newspaper “Linda.meiden Winterboek”: “I’m very much in love and it’s going well with him. I’m so happy”. Every now and then she shows up with an unknown young man in her Instagram stories. However, Eloise does not reveal whether he is the lucky one.
She met him during her studies in Amsterdam. Actually, Eloise is not a “relationship type”, but “then he” approached her and simply knocked her out. What a beautiful love story!
