Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway celebrates her 18th birthday – a special detail catches the eye in the new portrait photos.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway is currently celebrating her 18th birthday. On the occasion of this event, the royal family has new Portrait photos of the princess published.

There is a special detail on it: Ingrid Alexandra wears a valuable diamond diadem that was given to her for her 18th birthday. The princess stages the headdress with a simple, dark blue dress.

A family heirloom, the Boucheron Pearl Circle Tiara has been worn by the Norwegian royal family since the early 20th century and symbolizes the connection between the Scandinavian royal houses. Prince Carl of Sweden (1861-1951) is said to have bought it in Paris for Princess Ingeborg (1878-1958), daughter of King Frederick VIII of Denmark (1843-1912).

High profile guest list

In addition to the valuable gift, Ingrid Alexandra is currently also being properly celebrated. On Thursday evening there was already a celebratory dinner organized for them by the government. Her grandparents, King Harald V (85) and Queen Sonja (84), as well as her parents, Crown Princess Mette-Marit (48) and Crown Prince Haakon of Norway (48), are expected to attend a big gala dinner on Friday.

The other guest list also reads royally: the Dutch King Willem-Alexander (55) and his wife, Queen Máxima (51), the Danish Crown Prince Frederik (54) and his wife Mary (50), Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria (44) and her Mann Daniel (48) and Spain’s King Felipe VI. (54) are written on it, among other things. Frederik, Victoria and Felipe are the godparents of Princess Ingrid, who is second in line to the Norwegian throne behind her father.

Ingrid Alexandra turned 18 on January 21st. Due to the corona pandemic, the royal family had postponed the celebrations to the summer.
