Princess Kate is currently in a hospital after abdominal surgery. According to the palace, she will have to remain there for another 10 to 14 days.
Great concern for Princess Kate (42): The wife of the heir to the British throne, Prince William (41), surprisingly had to undergo abdominal surgery for the public and is currently in a London hospital. As Kensington Palace officially announced via Instagram, among other things, this was said to have been a “planned” operation.
The operation was successful and Her Royal Highness is expected to remain in the hospital for 10 to 14 days before continuing her recovery at home. The doctors’ assessment is that Princess Kate will not return to “public service” until after Easter at the end of March or beginning of April.
No further details were given about Princess Kate’s health. As the statement goes on to say, Kate is fully aware that her health condition will generate interest through this announcement. Nevertheless, she hopes that the public will be understanding so that as much normality as possible can be maintained for her children. She wants her “personal medical information to remain private.”

Kensington Palace will therefore only report on Princess Kate’s condition again if there is important new information. “The Princess of Wales would like to apologize to all those affected for having to postpone her upcoming appointments,” it continued. She is already looking forward to catching up on as many appointments as possible soon. According to the Daily Mail, a palace spokesman announced beyond the official statement, Princess Kate is currently in The London Clinic, where, among others, Prince Philip (1921-2021) was treated several times. He also announced that the operation had already taken place yesterday.
Princess Kate made her last public appearance during the Christmas service alongside her husband Prince William and their three children Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8) and Prince Louis (5) on December 25, 2023 in Sandringham. British palace observers have so far refrained from speculating about the exact reason for the operation. In a statement, royal expert Phil Dampier also said in the Daily Mail: “We don’t know the details, but it was obviously a serious matter.”
