Kate wowed in a bright blue outfit at Charles’ Scottish coronation. She honored the deceased Queen with a chain.
After the coronation of King Charles III. (74) and Queen Camilla (75) on May 6th in London, the British monarch was symbolically crowned again on July 5th in Scotland. As with the big event about two months ago, Princess Kate (41) stood out again with an eye-catching look According to a report by the “Daily Mail”, around 100 guests attended. The Duchess of Rothesay, as Kate is officially called in Scotland, appeared at the service in St. Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh in a cobalt blue look – and was there alongside Charles, Camilla and husband Prince William (41) in their dark robes hard to miss.
A special piece of jewelry in honor of the Queen
For the occasion, the 41-year-old also chose a very special piece of jewelry – in honor of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022). With her coat dress and matching hat, Kate wore a statement pearl necklace that once belonged to the late monarch. She wore the piece of jewelery at the Queen’s funeral in September 2022.
And she also commemorated a very special royal woman with her earrings: The pearl earrings that Kate wore at the service belonged to the jewelry collection of her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana (1961-1997).
Attentive royal observers may also have noticed that Kate presented her cobalt blue coat dress for the first time. She wore the piece by designer Catherine Walker at the Easter service in April 2023 and at the Commonwealth Day service in March 2022, among others.
How the coronation went in Scotland
The Scottish crown jewels, the “Honours of Scotland”, were presented to the monarch on Wednesday afternoon as part of the service for Charles’ Scottish coronation. The royal insignia consists of a crown, scepter and sword. A new sword was used at the celebrations, ‘The Elizabeth Sword’, commissioned for the occasion and named after the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Then observed King Charles III. and Queen Camilla as well as Prince William and Princess Kate an air show from Holyroodhouse Palace.
