Will Princess Kate (42) attend the tennis tournament in Visit Wimbledon? After Prince William’s (41) wife, who is suffering from cancer, took part in the military parade “Trooping the Colour” last Saturday (June 15), royal fans are eagerly awaiting her next appearance.
According to British media reports, the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, which hosts the annual Wimbledon Championships, has already announced that no final decision has been made as to whether Kate will be present this year. As patron of the club, the princess usually presents the trophies to the winners of the tournament after the finals on the tennis court.
Deborah Jevans (64), the club’s chairwoman, has reportedly explained why they will not speculate about Kate’s appearance. “Our priority is clearly that our patron has the time to recover and we will certainly not put additional pressure on her recovery by speculating about her participation in this year’s championships,” she said at a press conference last week. as reported by the “Express” among others.
Wimbledon will take place from July 1 to 14 this year. The chairwoman added, according to the report, that the announcement of who will present the trophies to the winners on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 July will be made before the finals as usual.
Princess Kate is a big tennis fan
Princess Kate, who has been patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club since 2016, is considered an avid tennis fan. The 42-year-old regularly visits the box of honour provided for her and the royal family at the Wimbledon tournament. And Kate herself also picks up a racket. Last year, she met Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer (42) before the start of the Grand Slam tournament. They hit a few balls together and watched the ball boys train.
At the moment, however, Kate will probably have to continue to take it easy. At Trooping the Colour, she made her first official appearance this year. In March, she announced that she has cancer and is undergoing “preventive chemotherapy”. “I am making good progress, but as anyone who undergoes chemotherapy knows, there are good days and bad days,” Kate wrote on June 14. on platform X“On those days you feel weak and tired and you need to give yourself over to resting your body. But on good days when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling good,” says the 42-year-old.
She also hopes to be able to “take part in some public appearances over the course of the summer, but I also know that I’m not out of the woods yet.” Her treatment is still ongoing and will take a few more months, she explained.
