Her life takes place in public. Privacy is rare. That’s why it’s no surprise that King Felipe, Queen Letizia and their children are also under surveillance in their free time. Recent photos and a video show how different their priorities are.

Finally take a deep breath, leave your duty behind. A wish that King Felipe, 56, and his loved ones are just as important to him as it is to every person who has to cope with a stressful everyday life. Shortly before Easter, the Spanish royals took the time to switch off a bit. This revealed the different approaches to the goal of simply letting your mind wander. Because while the monarch took a relaxed stroll through Madrid with Queen Letizia, 51, their daughter Princess Leonor, 18, was having a blast in Zaragoza.

Princess Leonor celebrates while Felipe and Letizia spend a cinematic evening

Felipe and Letizia were spotted on Saturday evening. In comfortable jeans, sweaters and sneakers, the two of them walked through Tirso de Molina in the center of Madrid at the beginning of Holy Week in pleasant temperatures – like normal citizens. The district is a hotspot in the Spanish capital. The locals in particular like to enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine in one of the many bars and take advantage of the diverse cultural offerings in the area.

And even though the royal couple strolled through the busy streets dressed relatively inconspicuously, they could not escape attentive glances. On X (formerly Twitter), journalist and screenwriter Dani Boz shared a blurry snapshot of the royals passing a popular steakhouse.

During the subsequent chat with the newspaper “Vanitatis”, the hobby paparazzo reported that the two had gone to the Libreria del Doré bookstore, a specialist shop for film literature. “You go to Doré and you meet Felipe and Letizia as a couple strolling through Madrid,” said an astonished Dani online. To which the bookstore’s official channel commented: “Very nice. You asked me about Boyero’s book.”

When asked by “Hola!”, an employee said that the royal couple came by around “half past eight in the evening, already in the night.” He would have greeted Felipe and Letizia and they would have taken a quick look at the books on the shelves – but that was all. They didn’t buy anything and didn’t spend long in the store. He wasn’t surprised about the flying visit, as Felipe and Letizia’s love for films was well known.

According to information from the portal “Chance”, the royals are said to have had a light dinner in the fish restaurant “Perlora” and then went to the cinema to watch “Winston’s Children” with Anthony Hopkins, 86, in the leading role. The film tells the story of a young British man who helped save hundreds of children from the Nazis on the eve of World War II.

According to the magazine “Lecturas”, Felipe and Letizia want to signal a little normality and accessibility with such short excursions. The couple is determined to mix effortlessly with the people – within the scope of their possibilities. Casual style, a security team to accompany you and an apparent naturalness would be the maxims that govern all these excursions. Above all, the Queen feels a little more like Letizia and less like a monarch. In this way, she takes a piece of the life that she might have led if the then Crown Prince had not crossed her path.

Leonor enjoys her youth – and stays nice about it

And while Letizia and Felipe enjoyed a little self-determined normality in Madrid, Leonor was out and about in Zaragoza. Also on Saturday evening, she was tracked down with her comrades from the military academy in a club in Zaragoza. The “Babia” seems to be a popular meeting place in the Aragonese city. And here too, of course, the cell phone was pulled out when the heir to the Spanish throne finally wanted to claim a few hours of freedom for herself after the strenuous service in the army. Of course, the rather shaky images immediately ended up with the press and were among other things shown on the website of the Spanish television channel Telcinco.

Apparently Leonor, like every young girl her age, was having fun on the dance floor. She was allegedly accompanied by the troops with whom she had been seen several times since she entered the General Military Academy in August 2023. Completely unaware that she was being filmed, she danced and sang exuberantly with her friends.

An eyewitness then told the Telecinco format “Socialité” that the heir to the throne always remained friendly even when unexpected contact was made: “When someone spoke to her, Leonor reacted very friendly. Only her bodyguards approached her when someone was filming her, as is normal Although we were able to do stories with complete normality, stories in which she was a part.”

The club visitor also reported that the princess danced to different styles of music such as reggaeton and salsa. The royal was reportedly there until the early hours of the morning. The witness left the restaurant around three in the morning – and Leonor was probably still there.
