Princess Leonor and Princess Alexia are working on a language app for refugees

Princess Leonor, 16, from Spain and Princess Alexia, 16, from the Netherlands have been attending the UWC Atlantic College in Llanwit Major, Wales for a few months now. So far, little is known about their stay at boarding school – the private life of the two royal students should be protected as well as possible.

But now the 18-year-old Abobakar Sediq Miakhel, also a student at UWC, reveals an exciting detail about the two princesses to “The Times”: “I lead the team that develops an app for refugees, and there are people from royal families and with a refugee background who are working on it. ” As far as is known, only two royals are currently studying at the school: Alexia and Leonor.

In total, more than 40 students work on the AILEM app, and they receive financial support from alumni of the school. “The app we developed teaches the refugee the national language, but we are taking a new approach to language teaching by telling stories in which the refugee meets a friend in the host country and they get to know each other and their life stories,” Abobakar Sediq Miakhel describes the principle of the app. How nice that Leonor and Alexia seem to be involved in this important matter!

Queen Letizia not only gives the beckoning monarch

When Queen Letizia, 49, and King Felipe, 53, appear in public, they are usually performing an important assignment in the service of the Spanish Crown. But what actually happens behind the scenes? Does the monarch’s wife come home and put her feet up first? On the contrary: there is still a lot of work waiting for the mother of two at her own desk. The alarm clock rings at seven in the morning in order to cope with her workload. After breakfast with Felipe and Princess Sofía, 14, she first takes her youngest daughter to school. Heir to the throne Princess Leonor, 16, currently lives in a boarding school in Wales and is no longer dependent on mom’s driving service.

Office work then begins in the Zarzuela Palace. Appointments have to be prepared and correspondence dealt with. In addition, the Queen writes her own speeches, which she will give at public meetings. Special heart projects get their own focus: “She has a lot of desk contacts with topics that are then published or pursues topics that she has dealt with in her agenda,” one learns from the court. Letizia, for example, stays in constant contact with her patrons. In addition, she regularly takes part in meetings in the palace that are not reported, “Vanitatis” knows. Before her collaborative trips, the 49-year-old also meets with experts to find out more about the country, its people and projects. There is hardly any time to put your feet up – but when the time comes, Felipe may thank her with a loving massage.

Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia have to stand in for the Swedish royal family

Last week, the Swedish royal family received one bad news after another: First, King Prince Carl, 75, and Queen Silvia, 78, tested positive for the corona virus. Then Princess Victoria, 44, and Prince Daniel, 48, were infected a second time. Now all eyes are on Prince Carl Philip, 42, and Princess Sofia, 37: They now have to step in and represent the Swedish royal family at their public appointments.

Princess Madeleine, 39, should no longer be an option. Rumor has it that she and her family have already returned to their adopted country after the Christmas holidays. One thing is certain: the return journey cannot take long.

Now there are only Carl Philip and his Sofia left, who can represent the Swedish Royals at official appearances – and therefore currently have an extremely important role. Royal fans may finally get to see Sofia again on January 10th after their absence of several days. She and her husband are supposed to represent the royal couple at the celebration of the Swedish Reichstag for the 100th anniversary of democracy. The anniversary celebration is so significant that the king even mentioned it in his Christmas speech.
