Princess Madeleine moved back to Sweden just a few days ago and can look forward to a very special invitation on her first weekend back home: her mother Queen Silvia is celebrating her 80th birthday with a lavish party.

In June 2023, Princess Madeleine, 42, and Chris O’Neill, 49, caused long faces in Sweden: After the couple had actually planned to move to Stockholm in the summer, they had to postpone their move until 2024. “According to the information I have, [der Umzug] “The move has been postponed to 2024,” said court information chief Margareta Thorgren at the time to the Swedish newspaper “Expressen,” stressing: “The reason is neither a migration issue, nor the sale of the house or anything like that. The British-American businessman will make his first official appearance on July 14, 2024, the 47th birthday of his sister-in-law Princess Victoria, as the royal calendar so far reveals.

Princess Madeleine, on the other hand, is already in a celebratory mood on her first weekend back home and will be attending the private party to mark Queen Silvia’s 80th birthday at the Royal Palace in Stockholm on Saturday evening, June 15. Although the wife of King Carl Gustaf, 78, already celebrated her special birthday in December last year, Silvia will not miss the opportunity to toast with friends and family again.

The queen with Brazilian roots is said to have set the dance floor ablaze to fiery music, as the Swedish newspaper “Svensk Damtidning” reports. In a fiery red evening dress, Silvia was the eye-catcher of the evening and was especially happy about the presence of her youngest daughter. According to the publication, Princess Madeleine played one of the main roles on this festive evening: after arriving (almost last), she stayed alone for some time in the east vault to look through a stack of papers – which looked like a speech for her beloved mother.
