Princess Madeleine is silent

The Swedes and their royal family had to wait three years due to the corona pandemic. Now they were finally allowed to celebrate the national holiday together again. On June 6, 2022, everything seemed to be like it was last in the summer of 2019. But one tradition was missing: Princess Madeleine, 39, who lives in Florida, surprisingly did not send a greeting to her compatriots’ day.

That was not always so. As recently as last year, she was on Instagram posted a photo of their three children, each proudly holding a little Sweden flag in their hands. Princess Leonore, 8, Prince Nicolas, 6, and Princess Adrienne, 4, stood barefoot in a lawn believed to be in the garden of the family home in Miami, dressed in blue and yellow, the national colors of Sweden. In 2020, Madeleine even showed herself on this festive occasion. Again they had each other in a garden with palm trees in the background to be photographed, her three children and she wore blue and yellow and flags were waved.

So why has it been so quiet this year? The illustration “Svensk Damtidning” speaks of the “unpredictable behavior” of the princess, because such silence has never existed. In fact, it’s an unusual decision by the princess, who is often criticized in Sweden for her absence. Perhaps she is saving her dear wishes for her compatriots until her upcoming visit to her home country. She and her family are expected in Stockholm no later than June 10, the Princess’ 40th birthday. And who knows? Perhaps their presence is now much more welcome to the Swedes than a distant greeting on Instagram.
